With riding season here we need to think seriously about safety. There is a pdf file on the safety page that will cover group riding tips and hand signals. Lets not forget, safe riding not only involves you but also your passenger and all of the other riders around you. Also consider signing up for one of the rider courses that are listed on the safety page. Special HOG rates are offered at times with reimbursement of up to $50 of the cost of class given back to you in the form of a Harley Davidson gift card as a benefit of having your National HOG Membership.
You will rapidly find out that no matter how good you are, there is always something to learn. The rider courses are a good investment for you and for the people that ride around you.

SEMO H.O.G. Chapter meets on the first Tuesday of every month at the Cape Girardeau Elks Club at 7:00 p.m. Our Meetings will now be held on the first floor (Same room as we have the Leather and Lace Dance)
Meal starts at 6:00 when provided Contact Dave Tucker if you would like to provide a meal for an upcoming meeting.
Come chat with old friends .... Better yet, come make some new friends!
The next meeting will be June 5, 2012.

There are some new rides as well as a few of the favorite past rides on the new events calender. It is looking like another good year is on the way. We certainly started the year out right with over 25 bikes and 35 members showing up at The Bayou during the Polar Bear Run on Jan 1. Remember, Bootheel donated a wreath to Wreaths Accross America for every rider that signed in at the dealership that day.

Mother's Day Ride
to Sandy Creek Covered Bridge

It's great when a plan comes together. With the help of Jerry Sanders and Mary Todd-Lindley we have come up with a fantastic ride.
Ride lead by Road Captain Gary Eldridge
Meet at Hardee's (William St. in Cape) at 9:30
Kickstands up at 10:00
We will take Highway 72 to Fredericktown Mo and meet some of our Poplar Bluff riders at the McDonald's on Hwy 67. Plan on leaving the McDonald's at 11:10. We will travel back to Highway 00 to Farmington where we will pick up Highway 67 and on to Surdyke Harley Davidson in Festus. We will gas up just Prior to getting to Surdyke. At Surdyke we will meet up with some members of The Greater St Louis Area Festus HOG Chapter. Mary Todd-Lindley will then take the ride over and lead us to The Sandy Creek Covered Bridge. Pictures will be take with both chapters displaying chapter flags. We will depart the Covered Bridge and head to Pevely for lunch at TJ's Bar and Grill. TJ's will also be hosting a drive in bike show.
Scenic, rolling, gently winding roads are going to make this a great ride. We get to meet some of our fellow HOG members from the Festus Chapter as well. Come on out and ride with us.

The newest newsletter will now be posted, even before it has been printed and mailed. But, now, there are certain areas of our website that are password protected, as per National HOG instructions. Please contact Gary or Jill at garyeldridge@semohog.com or jilleldridge@semohog.com for the username and password. You must be on the current membership list. You can go to Bootheel Harley Davidson or attend a meeting to join. Dues are now $24 and $12.
The message board is now opened up again. With password protection, we can keep spammers off of it and keep all communications between current members only. The hope is to use this to set up impromptu rides and keep everyone up to date on everything. Please sign on and post away.
